A native of Dutchtown, Braud was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired after 35 years as a produce inspector for the state Department of Agriculture. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Meyers Braud of Hammond; four daughters, Shirley Kyzar of Hammond, Brenda Drude of Ponchatoula, Annette Faust of Hammond and Elaine Laurent of Ponchatoula; one brother, Sidney Joseph Braud Jr. of Ponchatoula; three sisters, Helen Meyers of Pride, Earline Hoover of Arabi and Mary Rohner of Amite; eight granchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alton Joseph Braud, Cleveland P. Braud and Felman P. Braud. He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Gonzales, son of the late Sidney and Clemence Berteau Braud. Surviving are his wife, Millie Alford Jones Braud of Ponchatoula; stepdaughter, Patricia Jones Overmier of Loranger; two stepgranddaughters, Christy Ford and Leslie Overmier; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Keaton Rivero and Karlie Ford; and three sisters, Helen Meyers of Pride, Earline Hoover of Arabie and Mary Rohner of Amite. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Gloria Seamon Braud; and four brothers, Joseph Alton "Jack," Cleveland "Shnip," Felman "Duddie," and Dudley Braud. Mr. Braud was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, having served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and had been working security at Middendorf's in Manchac. He was a member of American Legion Post 47, Ponchatoula, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
