He was 70, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Independence. Boogie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carolyn Sue Jones Borders, Independence; daughter, Carmen Borders Adams, Ponchatoula; two grandchildren, Jonathan "J.T." Thomas and Ariane Adams; two sisters, Marie Gomez Rivett, Sunshine, and Annie Arnold and husband Bob, Grayson, Ga.; brother-in-law, Johnny Vega, Baton Rouge; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Rosalie Sullivan Borders; two sisters, Myra Thelma Vega and Mildred Borders; and two brothers-in-law, Roy Gomez and J.C. Rivett. Visitation at McKneely & Vaughn Funeral Home, Amite, on Wednesday, March 23, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home chapel Thursday, March 24, from 8 a.m. until Celebration of Life Services at 11 a.m., with Brother Russell Hinson officiating. Interment in Killian Chapel Cemetery, Amite.
