He was 46. Visiting at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, with a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Religious services at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Independence, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Dean Martin. Interment in Leroy Amato Family Cemetery. Survived by wife, Diane Bonnette Amato, Independence; four sons, Vinnie Amato, Darrell Amato, Jeremiah Amato and Adam Amato, all of Independence; two sisters, Judy Husser, Springfield, and Jo Ann Terrebonne, Independence; and a brother, H.J. Amato, Independence. Preceded in death by parents, James and Frances Fontana Amato.
