South of Highway 90, East on Ruth Street, South on Morton Street1 situated on the Hacken Josh tract of land in LaCombe, Louisiana, is an old French cemetery. titled LaDucre Family. This cemetery is located on a hill about 300 feet from an old style French cottage. It has a 5 foot high wail around it, and the large iron gate still works. The wall Is about 2 1/2 feet thick. Four large tombs are inside; only one tombstone was found on the ground covered with earth. All were written in French. The cemetery is surrounded by water in a swamp. On top of the one tombstone is written: La. Family et Nicola Ducre. Nicola Ducre, de la 17. decedee la...... France. Leon Ducre decede.... 190 17 natv. .
