All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.org/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Alexandria Daily Town Talk, Monday March 3, 1958, page 1 (Special to the Town Talk) Alexandrians killed in crash in New Mexico Two Alexandria residents were killed Sunday and four others were injured in a two-car head-on collision on U S Highway 80-85 about 15 miles south of Las Cruces. The dead were identified as Mrs. Anna O'Shee, 68 and her son John Pat O'Shee, 30. The O'Shees lived at 1314 Murray Street. John O'Shee was a disabled World War II veteran. Oficers said they were killed enroute to the airport to board an airplane for Alexandria after a week's visit to Las Cruces with Mrs. O'Shee's daughter, Mrs. Roy Dean. Injured in the smashup were Roy Dean, 45, driver of the car in which the two were killed; his daughter, Melody Dean, 5, Phillip Bingel and Charles Buterfield both 25 and students at New Mexico A&M. None of the injured were in serious condition, according to attendants at a Las Cruces hospital. State police said the wreck occurred about 7:30 am. The said the driver of the other car apparently fell asleep at the wheel and smashed into the car drien by Dean. Funeral services for both victims will be help Tuesday in Las Cruces. Mrs. O'Shee is survived by another daughter, Hazel of Florida, a sister, Mrs. Rose Hubber of Los Angeles, Calif; on half sister, Mrs. L. J. Lauret of New Orleans; two brohers, Victor Aertker of Los Angeles, Calif, and Henry Aertker of Alexandrai and a grandchild.
