He graduated from Agriculture College of Carlsruhe, Baden in 1857. Shortly afterward immigrated to the New World and settled at Louisville, Kentucky, where he entered the Fruit Commission Business, which he followed ineratively until the year of 1867. He then left the blue grass state and journeyed southward, finally settling in Buras, Plaquemines parish, where he first entered the mercantile business, and subsequently the Orange Culture at which he has been engaged for the past 30 years with great success...He was among the first to revivify the industry after the disastrous freeze of 1895. He has served 4 terms in the police Jury, during the 2 latter of which he has been president of that honorable body and has been elected again nanimonsly to succeed himself. He is also the able President of the Buras Levee Board and school trustee for his ward.
