Sixth District Court – Judge Cotton – Mandamus – Corner Forshee Yesterday Took A Rule
On The City Comptroller To Show Cause Why A Peremptory Mandamus Should Not Issue
Commanding Him To Audit The Coroner’s Bill For Holding Inquests At The Rate Of $17 Per
Inquest, Notwithstanding The Late Ordinance Of The City Reducing The Rate Of Charges
Allowed By The Coroner, On The Ground That This Ordinance Was Illegal. The Court
Dismissed The Rule, Holding That The Coroner’s Remedy Was By Direct Action And Not By
Rule.
