David A. Baker of New Orleans was found Thursday on the Pennsylvania railroad tracks near Monroeville, Ind. Dr. H. Paul Miller, Allen county, Ind., coroner, said the man apparently had fallen from a train and been dragged a considerable distance. He said papers in the man’s clothing identified him as Baker. Pvt. Baker’s wife, Mrs. Nancy Baker, 17, lives at 2006 Elysian Fields. The coroner said the body dressed in an Army fatigue uniform, bore travel papers showing the man was en route from Riverside, Calif., to Little Silver, N. J. Papers identifying him as Baker showed he was attached to the 330th Assembly Squadron, Keesler Field, Miss., the coroner said. Mrs. Baker said her husband, 24, has been assigned to the 817th Engineers’ Aviation Battalion at March Air Force Base, Riverside, Calif., since Jan. 12. Prior to that, she said, he has been assigned to the assembly squadron at Keesler. She said Pvt. Baker recently wrote her from Riverside saying he expected to be discharged or reassigned. He had not written her about any transfer to New Jersey she said. Pvt. Baker, a native of Verona, Pa., enlisted in the Army in Movember 1943, and was wounded in Burma while serving with the 1304th Engineering Construction Battalion. He had re-enlisted twice since his original discharge in May, 1946, Mr. Baker said, and was stationed at Camp Leroy Johnson until March, 1949. The Bakers were married here in December while he was stationed at Kessler, she said.
