He served as registrar of voters for Lafourche Parish and held numerous offices in the local Lions Club, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, Nicholls State University N Club, St. Joseph Altar Society, St. Joseph Manor Board of Directors and Thibodaux High School Tiger Club. Pirtle, 81, a native of Brownwood and resident of Bourg, who died at 8:50 a.m. Dec. 29, 1999. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Early, Texas. Additional information is pending. He was the father of Claude Kern Pirtle. He is also survived by two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Euda Mae Forman Pirtle; parents, Claude and Mary Pirtle; and brother, M.L.
