Her remains were brought to Labadieville on the steamboat Chickasaw, and her funeral took place there from St. Philomena?s church on Monday (20 MAR 1899) morning. The deceased religious was Miss Alice Achee, a daughter of Mr. Theard P. Achee, one of the more prominent and best citizens of Labadieville, and a sister of Mr. A. Achee of this city. She had been for years connected with the convent of the Sister of the Immaculate Conception, near Labadieville, where she labored zealously and assiduously in the good cause of education. She was popular in Labadieville and vicinage where she was so well known, and beloved of all that community. The vast number of people from all conditions of life who devoutly attended her funeral last Monday and witnessed the laying to rest her mortal remains, bore strong witness to the reverence and esteem in which the humble servant of the Lord was held by those in whose midst she has spent the life which she had so gladly consecrated to the service and to greater glory of God. ============================================================================ The Weekly Thibodaux Sentinel, Saturday December 23, 1899, pg. 1 Submitted by: Nancy Wright Necrological Henry A Frost Died at Covington, La. After a long and painful illness on Wednesday, Dec. 20th 1899, at 1:30, A. M., Henry A Frost, aged twenty one years, six months and four days. The Grim Reaper has again been at work and this time he has stricken down one of Thibodaux?s most promising young men, in the person of Henry A. Frost. It was sad for him to depart this life, just as the goal of manhood had been passed, with the prospect of a bright career just about to open. Providence, for its own inscrutable purposes called our young friend hence, and we must bow to its will, knowing that it doeth all things well. The Sentinel extends its heartfelt sympathies to the stricken household which will long gaze upon the vacant chair, and listen in vain for the voice that still. The hope of a reunion beyond the grave with the dear departed must be the solace and comfort of the sorrowing ones that now mourn, though "not as those without hope". ============================================================================
