Tuesday, January 16, 1979, McCreary County Record

John Marion Godsey, 72, of Stearns, died Jan 7 at Lake Cumberland Medical 
Center. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at Stearns First 
Baptist Church with Rev. Billy J. Turner officiating. Burial was in Pine Knot 
Cemetery./  He was born May 16, 1907, at Spring City, Tenn., to the late 
Marion and Nannie Forner Godsey. He was a retired carpenter for the Stearns 
company and a member of the Stearns First Baptist Church./  Survivors include 
his wife, Alma Lavender Godsey of Stearns; five children, Mrs. Gladys Jackson, 
Burnside, Rev. Paul Godsey, Burlington, Ky., Mrs. Lois Holland, St. 
Petersburg, Fla., Kenneth Godsey, Stearns; 19 grandchildren, 4 great-
grandchildren; a brother Elliot Godsey, Spring City, Tenn.; and a sister, Mrs. 
Minnie Barton, Hampton, Va./  Hickman Funeral Home was in charge of 
arrangements.
