Born Oct. 9, 1933, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Ersel Singleton Sowers. She was a homemaker and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. Born Oct. 10, 1939, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Frank H. and Maye Bertram Rippetoe. He was the widower of Phyllis Weissinger Rippetoe. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of American Legion Post 17 of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association, and a 1963 graduate of the University of Kentucky. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Shawn Goodlett of Houston, Texas; and a brother, Henry N. "Hank" Rippetoe of Tampa, Fla. She died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born June 29, 1922, in Fort Wayne, Ind., she was the daughter of the Late Joseph G. and Pearl Easterdoch Hayes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center Auxilary and was named volunteer of the year in 1995. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and The Presbyterian Church, a volunteer for the Tee Cup Golf Tournament, and a business school graduate. Survivors include her husband, John C. Hays of Danville; and a daughter, Nancy J. Hays of Danville. Visitation will be after the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may go to the McDowell hospital auxiliary and Oleika Shriners Children Hospital, Lexington. Survivors include his wife, Velma Jean Russell Douglas; a daughter, Becky Milburn of Harrodsburg; a son, Billy Douglas of San Francisco; a sister, Lula F. Binkley of Danville; and two grandchildren.
