Mrs. Elizabeth O. PENNER, aged 77 years, 2 months and six days passed away Wednesday evening at 9:23 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John S. CAMPBELL, of the Ray’s Branch neighborhood. She suffered with Bright’s disease. The deceased was born and reared in Warren County, and was the widow of Wm. Franklin PENNER, deceased many years. She had been a devout member of the Methodist church since 13 years of age, and was always active in church work and also in aiding the poor of the vicinity. Her desire for love and friendship was strong in her heart, and she believed that by dividing her joy with some one, she doubled their joy and came in touch with the divine. The memory of her sweet companionship can never die out of the hearts of the many friends who survive her. The deceased will be especially missed as president of the Woman’s Missionary Society of the Ray’s Branch Methodist Church. Surviving this good woman is one daughter, Mrs. John S. CAMPBELL, with whom she made her home. Funeral services will be held from the Ray’s Branch M. E. Church on Friday morning at 11:30 o’clock. Rev. B. S. HARPER will officiate, with Rev. B. F. G. W. CHERRY, WHO PASSED AWAY AT NOON TO-DAY. BURIAL TO-MORROW. The sad intelligence of the death of G. W. CHERRY reached the city this afternoon, and it will be learned with deep regret throughout the country. The funeral services will be held at Hall’s Chapel at 4 o’clock to-morrow afternoon, and the burial will take place in the church yard. G. W. CHERRY died in his 99th year. He was one of the early settlers of this section, and a man highly beloved by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and eight children, Prof. T. C., Isaac, Bailey, and Prof. H. H. CHERRY, of Bowling Green, and George Cherry, of Colorado; Rev. J. T. CHERRY, of Calhoun; J. W. CHERRY, of Atlanta, and Redford CHERRY, of Bardstown. The deceased was stricken with paralysis a few days ago, and owing to his advanced age it was thought that he could not rally, and he remained in a semi-conscious condition until the end came about noon to-day. Mr. CHERRY was a man of most kindly nature, a loving and kind father, ever watchful over the large family of boys he reared, until they grew into real manhood and lives of usefulness. He was a man of plain tastes, preferring the simple life to the more strenuous city exertions, and his whole life was spent upon the farm. He was loved, honored and esteemed by his children, whose every thought was for their parents. In their bereavement they have the united sympathy of their hundreds of friends. _____________________________X-Message: #7 ------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: [KYF] OBIT: Lou Ella BUCHANAN, 2002, Mercer Co. ------------------------------------------------------------ From the Danville Advocate Messenger, 29 Mar 2002 HARRODSBURG -- Services for Lou Ella Trisler Buchanan, 93, Greenwood Drive will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Donnie Releford.
