NATHANIEL FIELD (S) (ca: 1728-1777) by Mrs. J. O. Lewis Nathaniel Fields was born about 1728, probably in Hanover County, Virginia. He served as a private in Captain Alexander Rose's Company in the Sixth Virginia Regiment of Continental Forces, commanded by Lieut. Col. James Hendricks. He died while in service, April 1, 1777. In 1779, his widow, Mary Fields, and children were granted four hundred and forty acres, of land on the east side of Mayo Mountain in Guilford County, North Carolina. It was from this survey of land that Mary Fields and her orphan children, the children of Nathaniel Fields, deceased, were identified by name, Ansel, John, Agnes (Agathy), William, Elija, Susanna, Nelson and Allen Fields. The two oldest children Ansel and John also served in the Revolution, and it was from John Fields' application for pension that we learned that the family moved from Hanover County, Virginia to Rowan County, North Carolina in 1765. Next to the youngest child, Robert Nelson Pleasant Fields was born February 26, 1768 in Rowan County, North Carolina and died in Williamson County, Tennessee February 11, 1839. Hw was married to Mary Dodd, December 8, 1790, the daughter of Allen Dodd and Mary, his wife of Rockingham County, North Carolina. In 1809, Robert Nelson Pleasant Fields moved his family to Williamson County, Tennessee. There were 11 children, namely Elizabeth, Ambrose, William, Allen Dodd, Nelson, Absolum, Matilda, Martha, Mary and Maacha. Of this number seven settled in the western section of Tennessee and Kentucky, called "The Jackson Purchase", Nelson, Jr. being one of this number. Nelson Fields, Jr. (189701868) and his wife, Mary Rankin moved from Davidson County, Tennessee, near Nashville to what is now Fulton County, Kentucky, settling on land bought in 1828 from the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 50 cents an acre-land known as the Highlands addition of Fulton. Their home place was the site of the Derby Café on the State Line Road. Their 10 children were: John G. who married his first cousin, Mary Ann Fields; Ambrose Peter who married Lavina Whitesell and Catherine Whitesell; George Washington who married Susan Emily Herring; Nicholas who married Margaret Bard; Sarah Catherine who married Peter Whitesell; James Henry Green who married Sarah Ware Bransford; Emaline Tennessee who married James J.
