CAPT. ROBERT CLARK (1739-1799) by Mrs. Hunter Whitesell John Henderson 1st of Scotland was the son of Sir James Henderson, born 1450, died 1514, who was Lord Chief Justice to King James IV of Scotland. He had a son, Alexander Henderson, who in time had a son, William Henderson, whose son was Capt. John Henderson, born 1707, died in 1786 in Albermarle County, Virginia. Captain John Henderson's daughter, Susannah, married Capt. Robert Clark, born 1739, died 1799, also in Albemarle County, Virginia. One of their thirteen children was Captain Robert Clark, my ancestor, who married Elizabeth bullock in 1810. Their daughter, Catherine Roy Bullock, married my great grandfather. John W. Bell. They came to Clay County, Missouri, in 1834, where they are both buried. At court held for Bedford County, Virginia, May 26,1778, Captain Robert Clark, was recommended to "his Excellency the Governor" as a proper person who qualified according to law to act as a militia officer in his county, where he served until the war ended. The only member of the Jacob Flournoy Chapter DAR who is a descendant of Capt. Robert Clark is Mrs. Hunter Whitesell. Taken from the Fulton Dailey Leader, Fulton, Kentucky, March 28, 1975
