KY Deed Book B p.118 Frederick William Spence GRAYSON, clerk of the County Court of the one part to David PARIS of the County of Bullitt of the other part. Witnesseth that according to an order of the said Court the said GRAYSON hath by these presents put Betty HOLSCLAW, a poor child twelve years of age on the thirteenth day of April last as apprentice to David PARIS after the manner of and appointed to serve and obey the said PARIS from this day until she shall arrive at the age of eighteen years and the said David PARIS Covenants with the said GRAYSON and his successors that he will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said Betsy HOLSCLAW the Businesses of Spinster and House wife and also reading and writing, and during the said Term of apprentice ship Shall find and provide for the said apprentice meat drink washing Lodging and apparell with all things fit and necessary for an apprentice. And at the end of the said Term Shall pay the said apprentice three pounds ten shillings and a decent new Suit of clothes. KY Deed Book B p.119 Frederick William Spence GRAYSON, clerk of the County Court of the one part to David PARIS of the County of Bullitt of the other part. Witnesseth that according to an order of the said Court the said GRAYSON hath by these presents put John HOLSCLAW, a poor child aged 5 years of age on the thirteenth day of November last as apprentice to Asa HALL after the manner of and appointed to serve and obey the said PARIS from this day until he shall become twenty one years of age and the said HALL Covenants with the said GRAYSON and his successors that he will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the said John HOLSCLAW the Businesses of farmer and reading and writing and common arithmetic including the rule of three and that he will during the said Term of apprenticeship find and provide for the said apprentice wholsome and sufficent meat drink washing Lodging and apparel with all things fit and proper for an apprentice. And at the end of the said Term Shall pay the said apprentice three pounds ten shillings and a decent new Suit of clothes. KY Court Bullitt County KY Deed Book H p. 151 Whereas Basil BURKHEAD in his life time sold to James HOLSCLAW sixty acres of land lying on the north side of Salt river part of 300 acres for which the said BURKHEAD held the bond of Henry CRIST which bond said Basil assigned to John BURKHEAD who obtained a deed from CRIST. And whereas also the said James HOLSCLAW brought suit in Chancery against the said Basil BURKHEAD and John BURKHEAD for a title and said Basil and wife conveyed the said sixty acres to said HOLSCLAW and afterwards the suit was compromised and dismissed at the defendants costs amounting to $6.03 cents and HOLSCLAW sold the said 60 acres to said Basil and took his obligations and a mortgage on the land for the purchase money which mortgage was only recorded and afterwards the said James HOLSCLAW and Basil BURKHEAD verbally rescinded their contract and the deed made by BURKHEAD and wife to HOLSCLAW was at the instance of HOLSCLAW recorded in the Clerks office of the Bullitt County Court hit before the verbal contact was carried into effect by writing the said Basil departed this life and the mortgage and notes are yet held by HOLSCLAW. And now the said John BURKHEAD hereby confirms to the same James HOLSCLAW and his heirs the deed made by the said Basil and wife though without any recourse to him for damages on account of the said mortgage or deed - for the land contained in the boundary of said deed as specified on the face of the deed from John to Basil BURKHEAD and pays, if it is not yet done, the said $6.04 cents.
