Disability Discharge, U. S. Army
Farrier.   Enlisted 18 July 1861 at Madison, Indiana to serve 3 years.
Captain W. S. McClure, Capt., Commanding Officer.
Occupation when enlisted:  blacksmith
5 ft. 7 1/2 in., dark complexion, hazel eyes, gray hair
43 years old, born New York.
Surgeon:  E.W.H. Beck.
Reason for discharge:  varicose veins in the lower extremities.
Discharged at Falmouth, Virginia


Additional Comments:
He was actually born 16 July 1818 at Liverpool, England.  He died 22 Nov. 1893
at Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana.  He and his wife, Elizabeth Brownhill, are
buried at Springdale Cemetery, Jefferson County, Indiana.
