Odell (1916) E. W. H. BECK, M. D. Dr. E. W. H. Beck was born in Lewiston, Mifflin county, Pennsylvania, January 18, 1822, and came to White county, Indiana, in October, 1838. In 1842 he attended lectures at the Ohio Medical College, Cincinnati. He came from Monticello to Delphi in 1845. He associated with Dr. Samuel Grimes and began the practice of his profession. In 1846 he became the assistant surgeon of the First Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry, in the Mexican War. Doctor Beck was married to Frances M. Milroy, youngest daughter of Gen. Samuel Milroy, October 22, 1848, and to this union five children were born. On the 5th of October, 1861, he was commissioned a surgeon in the Third Regiment, Indiana Cavalry. He was a noted physician and enjoyed an extensive practice. He was a member of Delphi Lodge No. 28, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He died on October 6, 1888, leaving his wife and his five children surviving.
