The Daily Inter-Ocean [Chicago] July 29, 1888
Mr. Jonathan Muncey, who came to this place from Kent County, Delaware, in 
1836, died Tuesday at his residence on Herkimer street, aged 88 years. He 
first settled on a farm, two and one-half miles east of Joliet, now owned by 
George Davidson. Near the road in front of the farm house there is now 
standing a large elm tree, grown from a small sapling set out by Mrs. Muncey 
in 1838.
