PICKETT Francis was born in McDonough County, IL in 1841 to John W. and Olive (CONNOR) PICKETT. His father, John W. PICKETT, was born in North Carolina in 1808 and died in Davis County, IA in 1881. Olive (CONNOR) PICKETT was born North Carolina in 1810 and died in 1852. In March 1869, Francis M. PICKETT founded the Saline County Register in Harrisburg, IL. In 1873 the paper consolidated with the Chronicle and was known as The Harrisburg Chronicle. In 1873 Francis was appointed treasurer of Saline County and served one year. Francis married Kate N. HARDING, in January 1865. She was born in Paris, IL in 1842. To this union five children were born: Olive L. PICKETT who married Thomas O. SNYDER, John J. PICKETT, Mary L. PICKETT, Frances M. PICKETT, and Jessie H.
