Name of Deceased: CORDER, MARY EVERLY Name of Newspaper: The Girard Gazette Date of Obituary: February 2, 1928 Obituary: Mary Corder was born March 22, 1847 in Clinton County, Illinois. She was left an orphan when a little girl and grew to womanhood in Macoupin county. Her girl- hood and young-woman-hood days were spent in the community of Chapman Point. She was united in marriage to M.W. Corder in 1868 and to this union were given 3 sons and two daughters: The two sons, Everett and Luther survive, Jesse having died at an early age, the daugther, Viola and Clarissa survive and all of the children live in Girard. She leaves two grandsons, Calvin Stone of St. Louis and Eugene Stone of Chicago. Mrs. Corder was a member of the Baptist Church for over 50 years. Her husband M.W. Corder preceded her in death by 13 years. She departed this life January 30, 1928 being 80 years, 10 months, and 8 days of age. Mrs. Corder represented and typfied in her religious thinking an living the Old School Theology. To her mind right is always right and wrong is always wrong and there ought not to be any thought of compromise betweent the two. She delighted in the pungent statements of truth by Rev. William Sunday and one of the last hours in her long, active, and useful life was spent in reading on of his recent sermons.
