Obituary of William Wilson Boyd, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 1999 Cindy McCachern Hutsonville (IL) Herald, 24 January 1913 William Wilson Boyd died Saturday at his home west of Hutsonville of Bright's disease, following a several months' illness, aged 71 years, 1 months, and 33 days. He was the son of Wilson and Mary E. (Sackrider) Boyd. His grandfather, John Sackrider was a captain in the war of 182 and was with Commodore Perry on Lake Erie. He came to Illinois in 1818, locating in this township, and Mr. Boyd resided on a part of the original Sackrider farm. Mr. Boyd's father was born in Guilford county, N. C. in 1806 and came here in 1822. mr. Boyd was raised on the Sackrider farm and educated in teh subscription schools right in the old log cabins common to his day. He was one of the foremost ___ and stock dealers in former years in the county. The deceased was youngest of a family of four children of whom only one survives being Beth Green. The deceased are ___ J___ S. Boyd. In 1861 Mr. Boyd was married to Miss Celistia Bailiff on March 17, 1886. To this union five children were born.......In 1889he was married to Fidelia Bailiff, who survives to mourn his death. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Bailiff church and interment was made in the cemetery nearby.
