Obituary of Solomon Stanfield, Crawford County, Illinois Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives Copyright 2000 Cindy McCachern Solomon Stanfield died last Thursday at the home of his son, John Stanfield at Indianapolis, his death being due to a stroke of paralysis.  Until a few weeks ago, Mr. Stanfield resided in Hutsonville and was the oldest person in the township.  He was born in Kentucky Dec. 2, 1823, being aged at his death 93 years, 11 months and 5 days.  He was married four times and each of his helpmates has preceded him in death.  His first marriage was in 1849 to Edna Privit, to whom were born four children; his second marriage was to Anna R. Barker to whom was born one child; his next marriage was to Lurinda Nichols, to whom were born two children, and he was last married to Sarah Thompson to whom were born one child.   Mr. Stanfield was a veteran of the Mexican and Civil wars, and up until about a year ago was one of the best preserved men in the community.  He was a hard worker and done his share of it.  He was of happy dispotition and had many friends here who will be grieved to hear of his death.  Funeral services were held Friday and the remains laid to rest in the Crown Hill cemetery at Indianapolis. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations or persons.
