ELIZABETH WILKERSON Mrs. Elizabeth Wilkerson was born in Crawford County,Ill., March 22, 1833. October 11, 1865 . She was united in marriage to Jessie Wilkerson then also a resident of Crawford Co. To this union were born six children three sons and three daughters. Early in life she yielded her life to Christ and identified herself with the United Brethren Church of which she remained a member until seventeen years ago when she removed to Palestine and placed her membership in the Methodist Church of this place. She retained her faith in Christ. Her husband and three children Mrs. Synthia Walter, Joseph Wilkerson and an infant son, preceded her in death. She was a dutiful wife and a good mother. She was industrious during her younger days she worked hard and even during the old age she refused to be inactive but was always ready to perform such duties in the home as her strength would permit. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hess, June 14th 1910, aged 77 years, 2 months and 22 days. She is survived by 3 children, Henry Wilkerson of Ross, N. Dakota, Mrs. Sarah Wilson of Oblong and Mrs. Smina Hess of Palestine, one brother, Levi McColpin of Hardinsville, fourteen grand children and six great grandchildren. She rests from her labors. The funeral was preached Wednesday afternoon at the home in Palestine by Rev. Markman. Interment in Palestine Cemetery.
