Obituary of John W. White - Sangamon, Christian Counties, Illinois Taken from one of the following newspapers Springfield, Pawnee, Edinburg or Taylorville, 1929 Date of death was 19 Nov 1929, place- Christian county, Illinois WHITE John W. White, 69, life-long resident of the community and one of its best known and highly esteemed figures, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. C. F. Schneeberger, near Taylorville, at 8:30 p. m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1929, following a prolonged period of declining health. Mr. White was born on the South Fork township farm where he resided, August 22, 1860, being the eldest son of the late Hiram and Sarah Crowder White. His marriage in 1882 was with Nettie Sharp of Sharpsburg, who died on year ago. Surviving are two children, Mrs. J. A. Donner, Pawnee, and Mrs. C. F. Schneeberger, Taylorville; two grandchildren, John and Edith Donner, Pawnee. Mr White’s life was devoted to his family and the management of his farm, his supervision over business affairs being relaxed only when encroaching illness limited personal concern. His attention was always engaged by developments of public interest, and these he followed with a thoughtful analysis that ranked him among the influential citizens of his community. Funeral services were held at the family homestead at 10 o’clock Thursday morning, Rev. William A. Askew of Litchfield officiating. Interment was in Horse Creek cemetery. Submitted by Stan A.
