Davis age 81 of Mt. Sterling, Illinois passed away at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at his residence. He was born October 16, 1920 in Alexander, Illinois, the son of William L. and Williametta Wilkerson Davis. He married Imogene Beavers on August 11, 1944 in Rossville, Gerogia and she survives. Mr. Davis was a farmer and he later worked at Buckley Auto Parts in Mt. Sterling. He attended Indianapolis, Indiana public schools. Mr. Davis was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the United States Army. He always enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife, Imogene Davis of Mt. Sterling. 3 children Lynda Christner and her husband Raymond of Crete, Illinois, Bill Davis of Mt. Sterling and Elaine Chute and her husband Larry of Elgin, Illinois. 1 brother Leroy Davis of Silvis, Illinois. 1 sister Anna Mae Garner of Mt. Sterling also survives along with 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson, 2 borthers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2002 in the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Larry Chute officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 Thursday evening at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. until time of services on Friday. Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the Community Baptist Church in Elgin. The Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
