Welker Rites Held Today; Worked in Banks Eugene Glenn (Jute) Welker, 60, who worked in the Idaho First National banks in Weiser and Council for many years, died suddenly at Cambridge, Friday. Services were at 2 p.m. today at the Cambridge Baptist church with the Rev. James McGee officiating. Graveside services were planned by the Council American Legion with burial at Cambridge under the direction of Northam-Jones funeral chapel. Mr. Welker was born September 3, 1902, at Cambridge, the son of John T. and Zella Shepherd Welker. He was graduated from the Cambridge high school and attended the university of Idaho. During World War 11, he served in the U. S. army. Most of his life he worked for Idaho First banks in Weiser and Council and at the Bank of Idaho at Caldwell. Mr. Welker was a member of the Weiser Masonic lodge No. 23; the Weiser B. P. O. E. lodge No. 1683; the Upper Country Grange; and the Council post of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by several brothers—Herman, a former U. S. Senator of Idaho, who died in October, 1957; Theodore, who died in Twin Falls in September, 1957; Stanford, the oldest of the Welker brothers, who died before the mid-1950’s; Pat, who died at Cambridge in February, 1956. Surviving are two brothers, Boyd and Gus Welker of Cambridge, and one niece.
