Was ill for some time. George W. Brown, veteran of the Civil War and resident of this section for nearly 20 years passed away at his home here at 5:30 this morning. Had he lived until July 26, he would have been 80 years old. He had been ill a long time, about six years ago he lost his sight and two years ago he was stricken with paralysis which left him practically helpless. He was a member of the local post of the G.A.R., and up until he became ill he took a active part in the organization. In the Civil War he served in the First Arkansas Infantry. Funeral services will be in charge of the G.A.R. and will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at Mann Creek. The Rev. Kuhnley of the Mann Creek Christian Advent Church will preach the funeral sermon.
