A little boy of C. N. Nichols, living near Falk’s Store, on the Payette, 
accidentally shot himself through the upper part of the thighs, on Monday last, 
the 22d instant.  Mr. Frank Curtis was immediately dispatched for a surgeon, 
but could procure none until he reached here late in the evening.  Dr. Hunt 
left by Tuesday morning’s stage, but arrived to find the little fellow dead.  
The doctor says it was a fearful wound-the worst he ever saw.  The boy was shot 
sometime during the forenoon, and died about 4 p.m. same day.
