OBITUARY: Hugh A. Torney, Mitchell County, Iowa Torney, Hugh Alexander 1869-1925 Hugh Alexander Torney FORMER RESIDENT Mention of This Good Citizen Was Made in News Last Week--Burial in Local Cemetery Hugh Alexander Torney was born near Toronto, Canada, Jan. 3, 1869. The family moved to Lodi, Wis., the following year and two years later to Mitchell county, Iowa. On a farm in Rock township, Mr. Torney grew to manhood. As a young man he spent a year in California and several years in South Dakota, finally coming back to farm the old home place and care for his parents. He was married Oct. 7, 1914, to Alice C. Joy of Mitchell, Iowa, March 1, 1916, they moved to Barron Wis., where he has since resided. He died April 14, 1925, after only a few days illness. Mr Torney was a man highly respected by all who knew him. The funeral was conducted last Friday morning at the local Baptist church by Rev. O. M. Van Swearingen of Mitchell, assisted by Rev. E. H.
