Der Christliche Botschafter, 7 Dec 1870, Cleveland, Oh
Heinrich, son of Karl and Karolina Hoffmann, died on the 17 Nov of inflammation 
of the bowels at the youthful age of 22y and about 2m in Otter Creek, Linn Co., 
Iowa.  He was converted about 4 years ago to God, and since then has sought to 
retain His spirit.  Lying on his sickbed he was very trusting in God, and 
rejoiced on his going to the outstretched hands, singing: "Shall we gather at 
the river."  To his parents he said: "Mourn not for me."  The friends who had 
died before him, whom he had not expected to see again, he saw.  Their 
companionship, standing about his bed, encouraged him.  Also he thought of his 
pledge to missions before his end, and gave $20.00.  Oh how forlorn are the 
parents and sister!  How mysterious are God's ways!  W. Kolb.
