He was a native of County Dublin, Ireland, from whence he emigrated to Missouri, and was there married to Miss Mary Smith. He came to Iowa in 1863 and has since been a resident of Jackson County. The wife of deceased died a few years ago. The fell destroyer fixed its grip upon him some five or six months ago, and gradually but surely tightened its grip, until at last the end came. He died a short time after 6 o’clock on Tuesday, Jan 19, 1886, after a long illness. The remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery near Sabula on Thursday. He leaves four sons and two daughters to mourn his untimely death.
