Nellist WILLIAM DANFORD, Assistant Plantation Manager. A steady rise through the ranks of sugar plantation employees distinguishes the career of William Danford, who now occupies the post of assistant manager of the Kekaha sugar estate at Kekaha, Kauai. Born in Dublin, Ireland, on Jan. 28, 1878, Mr. Danford is the son of William and Lady Anna (Herron) Danford. He received his education in his native land and came to Hawaii in 1896 to become a sugar boiler for the Hawaiian Sugar Co. at Makaweli, Kauai, a position he occupied for 11 years. He left to become head overseer for the Mana section of the Kekaha plantation and was promoted in 1918 to assistant manager. Mr. Danford married Jean Harwood of San Francisco at Kekupua, Kauai, on July 6, 1903, and two children were born to them, William Harwood and Alys L. Danford.
