Millwood Baptist Church was organized in 1890. In the logs of the minutes of the earlier years of the church it is not certain which of the nearby ministers organized it. The Rev. John F. Smith of Pearson was pastor in 1894 when Mrs. Minnie Rouse Minyard now of Waycross, joined the church, so it is probable that he organized it. Having been a "Wet foot" Baptist church and belonging to the original Smyrna Missionary Baptist Association, Millwood Baptist in 1924 became affiliated with the Piedmont Baptist Association. After 1938 it joined the newly formed Okefenokee Baptist Association. In the arly 1930's the church went from quarter time to half time under the pastorate of the Rev. W. R. Beall, who became resident pastor. Sunday school and training union rooms were also built into the church at this time. IN FEBRUARY 1960 Millwood Baptist Church became full time under the pastorate of the Rev. W. D. Thomason, students at Norman Park at that time. There has also been a Womans Missionary Society for many years. The church had had many consecated men of God as pastors through the years and from time to time had provided young ministers of the gospel their first pastorate. The present pastor of the church is the Rev. Kenneth Lewis of Waycross. the approximate active membership of the church is 50. Among those serving the church as pastor in former years both living and deceased are as follows: The Rev. S. M. Murray, the Rev. T. N. Cady, the Rev. J. R. Thigpen, the Rev. J. F. Harbin, the Rev. Walton Tison, the Rev. Hiram Thomas, the Rev. Dave Douglas, the Rev. L. R. Wadkins, the Rev. Needham Harrell, the Rev. W. R. Beall, the Rev. Lambert Jones, the Rev. J. C. Sheppard, the Rev. W. C.
