Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, April 21, 1899 Dr. C.F. Redding Dies. Dr. C.F. Redding, one of the oldest and best citizens of our county, died at his home here Monday morning at 2 o’clock. He had a severs spell of the grip about two months ago, from the effects of which he never recovered. At the time of his death he was seventy-six years old and had been an honored citizen of Zebulon since the forties. He filled various county offices at different times and always proved to be kind, courteous and efficient. Memorial services were conducted at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the M.E. Church, of which he was a member, by Rev A.B. Pope. Those who talked were A.B. Pope, M.M. Walraven, J.W. Beck, Judge E.F. Dupree, Messers. J.H. Howell, R.Y. Beckham, Dr. J.B. Mathews, Col. J.H. Baker, Judge J.W. Means, and A.A. Howell. Appropriate music was rendered by the choir. His remains were interred in the Baptist cemetery with Masonic honors. Dr. Redding was the father of two children, Mrs. W.O. Gwyn and Mr. W.M. Redding, dec’d. His loving and faithful wife is still living.
