Col. James Smith died in Barnesville last Friday and was buried here in the Methodist cemetery last Saturday. Col. Smith married the sister of Mrs. Robert Beckham who died several years ago. Col. Smith left seven children and a host of friends to mourn his taking away. He was born and raised in Pike County and never left the County to live elsewhere until Lamar County was created and he was cut off into Lamar County.
