Born in Franklin County July 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Ralph G. and Lettie Mae Fowler Gable. He was retired from the State of Georgia Department of Transportation and was also a farmer. Mr. Gable was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the New Franklin Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Claude Gable. Survivors include his wife, Grace L. Gable, Canon; son, Derrick R. Gable, Canon; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Wayne Herron, Martin; grandchildren, Abby Herron, and Nathan Herron; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Shirley Gable, Hartwell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 7, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldon Massey officiating. Burial was in the Bowers Memorial Gardens, Canon. Pallbearers were Nathan Herron, Danny Gable, Barry Gable, Doug Jones, James Spears and Roger Leopard. Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
