Mrs. Kay was born in Birmingham, Ala., Jan. 22, 1896, the daughter of the late W. A. and Elizabeth Jones Wood. Prior to moving to Rome, she had resided in Ft. Worth, Texas for several years. She was a member of the Roland Hills Baptist Church of Ft. Worth. She was married to the late John M. Kay on Oct. 12, 1949. He died Feb. 10, 1966. Survivors include two brothers, Paul Wood of Sumiton, Ala., and J.C. Wood of New Orleans, La.; three sisters, Mrs. W. A. Brooks, Mrs. Bonnie Jackson and Mrs. Claude Goode, all of Birmingham, Ala.; two half brothers Donald and Bryant Wood of Birmingham. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with the Revs. Anthony Kay and Howard Holcomb officiating. Interment was in East View Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Kay, Jack Petty, Buddy Crider, Clarence Davis, Clyde Richey and George Jackson. The family is at the residence of a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. Turner Jackson on Troutman Road.
