Wingate & John A. Cameron, Confederate Veterans Dear Mrs. Cameron: This will acknowledge your letter of September 30, 1963, requesting information that will enable you to apply for grave markers for the two above subject captioned individuals who saw service with the C.S.A.. Reference to my files indicate that both of these veterans saw service with the Military Forces of the C.S.A., and I am enclosing Application For Headstone Or Marker with information indicated thereon relative to their service; which if you will follow instructions contained on the form possibly will result in securing markers. However, in the case of Robert W. Wingate, this man drew a pension for several years but which was revoked due to transcript of his service record which was furnished the state by the War Department, The Adjutant General’s Office, Washington, D.C., dated June 17, 1910, which indicated that he deserted April 13, 1863. In view of this record it may be possible that your Application For Headstone would not be approved although the soldier did see service from August 3, 1861, and possibly up to April 13, 1863. I regret to have to make this kind of report, however, it is necessary to follow the information as shown in the official records. Very truly yours, W. C. Hoffman, Secretary State Board of Pensions WCH/vm Encl. Page 007 L. Cameron 1014 Huron St. Jacksonville, 5 Fla. Mr. Ray Green Comptroller State of Florida Tallahassee Fla. Page 008 Jacksonville, Fla. Sept. 30, 1963 Mr. Ray Green, Comptroller of the State of Florida Dear Sir: How do I make application for grave markers for two Confederate Veterans un-marked graves? They are, Robert W. Wingate #18416 (a rejected claim) and John A. Cameron #11971. I do not know their ranks or rating, if any, nor Company. They were from Florida, and I believe both received small pensions, at one time. They are buried in a cemetery in Marion County. Thank you, Yours truly (Mrs) Louise Cameron 1014 Huron St., Jacksonville 5 Fla. Page 009 State of Florida } : S. S. County of Duval} I do solemnly swear that I personally knew John A.
