Held Chief, Headstone Branch Memorial Division Department of the Army Washington 25, D. C. Re: Beasley, J. Froy #5826 Dear Mr. Held: Your letter of August 17, 1964, requesting Confederate Military Service Record of the above subject captioned veteran, is acknowledged. A search of our records has located information in relation to a veteran serving under the name of J. F. Beasley, shown in the publication, "Soldiers of Florida" on pages #214, and #216, Roll of Company E - 9th Florida Infantry, and Roll of Company G - 9th Florida Infantry, respectively; photostatic copies of this publication are enclosed. Reference to our Confederate Pension Claim File has developed information that a veteran by the name of J. F. Beasley applied for a Confederate Pension October 10, 1901, same being approved with pay from October 10, 1901, at the rate of $96.00 per annum. This veteran again re-applied for continuation of his pension as required under the Act of 1909, Laws of Florida, and in this application his full name is shown as Jefferson Froy Beasley. The two applications of this veteran indicated that he served in Company H, 9th Regiment, Florida Cavalry, while the information shown in your letter would indicate that his service was with Company F, 6th Florida Infantry. It would appear that the soldier about whom you inquire possibly is Jefferson Froy Beasley, and that the information furnished you for grave marker could possibly be in error in so far as the company in which this man is said to have served. Photostatic copy of the veteran's applications for pension are enclosed. This will certify that the above described and enclosed photostatic copies are true reproductions from official records on file in the State Board of Pensions, Office of the State Comptroller, Tallahassee, Florida. Very truly yours, W. C. Hoffman, Secretary State Board of Pensions WCH/vm Encl.
