Albus of Ellington died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001. Born in Harvey, N.D., son of Julia and the late Walter Albus, he lived in Somers for many years until moving to Ellington. Frank served with Army Intelligence during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a school business manager and as an assistant superintendent for the past 14 years for the Suffield public school system. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1970, received a master of arts degree from New York University in 1973, and C.A.G.S. from New York University in 1976. Education was very important in Frank's life; he encouraged and cheered his sons in their educational endeavors and was delighted by their achievements. His life revolved around his sons who gave him so much joy and happiness. He was a lifelong member of HASBO and CASBO. The support he received from his former colleagues was important to him. He was a member of the Enfield American Baptist Church, but also enjoyed attending services at the Somers Baptist Church. Frank traveled extensively in Eu rope and South Asia. Most recently, he and his sons spent three weeks in Vietnam visiting a former Vietnam War comrade who served as his interpreter during the war. He is survived by his former wife, Marion Martinez, with whom he had a special bond, and her husband, George, of Clinton; his two sons, Frank Albus of Manhattan, N.Y., and Adrian Albus of Clinton; his mother, Julia Albus of Oakes, N.D.; a brother, Walter Albus and his wife, Lorie, of Oakes; a sister, Mary Lucius and her husband, Bruce, of Dayton, Ohio; two nieces, Alyssa and Ruth; and two nephews, John and David; Linda Larusso, whose special devotion was of great comfort to him; and Edward Arum, a classmate at NYU, a then-colleague who was the most devoted friend a person could have. Words cannot describe the undying loyalty they had for one another. A memorial service will be held for Frank at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the Somers Baptist Church, 40 Battle St., Somers. Somers Funeral Home is caring for arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank's name be made to the World Trade Center Relief Fund, Box 5028, Albany, N.Y. 12205, to support the families of police and firemen who died in this tragic disaster. ***************************************************************************** The USGenWeb Project makes no claims or estimates of the validity of the information submitted and reminds you that each new piece of information must be researched and proved or disproved by weight of evidence.
