Obit-Hamilton, Polly Minerva, Canon City Record 6/19/1919, Fremont County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.org/co/fremont/obits/hamltnpm1919.txt Transcribed by Henny Elze Donated August 16, 2004 ================================================================ Canon City Record Canon City, Colorado Thursday June 19, 1919 Funeral of Mrs. Hamilton Friday The funeral of the late Mrs. Polly Minerva Hamilton of South Canon will be held at Wilson's undertaking chapel, 728 Main street, at 2:30 Friday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. Burgess of the Christian church. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Ohio, December 9, 1834, and was aged 84 years 6 months and 2 days at the time of her death. She had been in failing health for several years, and practically an invalid since the death of her husband about a year ago. After being widowed Mrs. Hamilton went to live with her son, James W. Hamilton at Webster, KS, but a few weeks ago returned to Canon City. She was accompanied on her return to Colorado by her daughter, Mrs. Mary Hamilton, who assisted in caring for her until the end a few days ago at the home of another daughter Mrs. Samuel Isabel, 1122 South First Street. Besides the son and two daughters mentioned, Mrs. Hamilton is survived by 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren, most of whom live in this community. The deceased was a woman of noble heart and mind, and had had a large circle of friends who will feel her loss keenly. The funeral will be attended by the members of Greenwood Post, No. 10., G.A.R. and those who have automobiles are requested to tender their use to convey the veterans and members of other patriotic organizations to the cemetery where they may take part in the last rites of respect to the memory of the dead. ================================================================= All files are contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archives Project (http://www.usgwarchives.org/).
