Friends from this city and from the Cambria district paid final tribute to Ira Van Gorden, member of one of the pioneer families of Cambria, at funeral rites held Monday afternoon at the Richardson funeral parlors and the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Cayucos [??]. Mr. Van Gorden died at his home here on Friday night [March 8], after a two weeks illness. He was born in Visalia [Tulare County], but came to this county as a child and grew up in the Cambria district, where he resided until 17 years ago, when he retired from business activities and moved to this city. The large attendance at the funeral and the many floral tributes indicated the wide circle of friends which he had acquired during his life in this county. He was 65 years old at the time of his death. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Francesco Van Gorden, a daughter, Mrs. Edith Stead, both of this city; and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Walter Murray, of Los Angeles, Gilbert and George Van Gorden, of Danville; Sherman Van Gorden of Palo Alto and Vine and Earl Van Gorden, of Cambria. Rev. H.C. Taylor, of the Methodist church here, officiated at the rites at the parlors and the cemetery. At the parlors Mrs. J.C. Hill sang consoling solos."
