Ira Van Gorden, member of one of the pioneer families of Cambria, died at his home 1325 Pismo street here Friday night [March 8], after a two weeks illness, at the age of 65. He was born in Visalia [Tulare County] but came to Cambria when a child and was raised in that section, living there until 17 years ago, when he moved to this city to make his home. Mr. Van Gorden was widely known in the north coast section and in this city, having made many friends in both sections of the county, who will join with the bereaved family in mourning his loss. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Francesco Van Gorden and was the father of Mrs. Edith Stead of this city. Beside the immediate family he leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Walter Murray, of Los Angeles; Gilbert and George Van Gorden, of Danville; Sherman Van Gorden, of Palo Alto, and Earl Van Gorden, of Cambria. Funeral services will be held Monday [March 11] afternoon at 1:30 from the Richardson funeral parlors, with interment in Cambria cemetery."
