And first I direct that my body be decently interred corresponding with my situation in life and as to ___ worldly estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with. I dispose of the same as follows. First I direct the debts and personal expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first money’s that shall come into the hands of my executors from any portions of my estate, real or personal. Also I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife MARY THOMPSON, 1 negro woman named HANNAH, one named CATEY, one boy named JIM and one girl named DILLI ANNE all of which I give and bequeath unto my said wife as her own ___ and property to do what ever she may think proper during her lifetime or widowhood and to dispose of as she may think proper at her death. Also I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife MARY THOMPSON the whole of my estate both real and personal during her lifetime or widowhood but after her death or marriage to be disposed of as follows. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son THOMAS M THOMPSON one negro man named SAM. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son JOHN THOMPSON one negro girl named ABIGAIL. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son FRANCIS B THOMPSON one negro man named YELLOW PETER and one woman named SERENER. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son SILAS THOMPSON one negro man named ARGAL, one named ALIE and woman named AMEY and one boy named SIP. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son RALPH THOMPSON one negro man named BLACK PETER, one negro woman named HARRIET, one negro girl named EADY and one boy named CHARLES. I give and bequeath unto my beloved son ABRAHAM THOMPSON, one negro man named JUBITER one named HAMPTON one named YORK, one woman named KITTY, one boy named FAY M, one girl named PATSY and one boy named MARSHALL. I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter ANNAH THOMPSON one negro woman named JUDY. I give and bequeath unto the heirs of my beloved son BASSETT THOMPSON the sum of 5.00 dollars to be paid out of the proceeds of my personal estate by my executor. I give and bequeath unto my beloved sons RALPH, SILAS and ABRAHAM THOMPSON all my real estate which I may be seized with to be equally divided, share and share alike. I also direct that after the death or marriage of my beloved wife MARY THOMPSON that my final estate be sold on such credit as is usual in such cases and secured in like manner and ___ collected after paying my just debts and the usual fees to my executors that the balance if any to be equally divided between my beloved sons FRANCES, SILAS, RALPH and ABRAHAM THOMPSON. I do hereby ___ and order my beloved sons RALPH and ABRAHAM THOMPSON executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I JOHN THOMPSON SR ___ testator have to this my will written as one ___ of paper set my hand and affixed my seal this the 13th day of July in the year of our LORD 1842. Entering between the 49th and 50th lines and between so ___ and 6 before assigning. Signed, sealed and delivered: JOHN THOMPSON (Seal) In the presence of : J. G. WASHINGTON D. S. WOOD Personally came D. S. WOOD this day in open court and being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that JOHN THOMPSON now deceased. Did on the 30th day of July 1842 whilst of sound and disposing mind and memory sign seal ___ and declare the foregoing to be his last will and testament. In the presence of this ___ ___ JOSEPH G WASHINGTON and that he this ___ and said presence. And that WASHINGTON attested the same as witnesses in the presence and at the request of said testator, all on the day of its date.
