There are many stories as to why this single grave rests alone separated from the remainder of the cemetery by the highway, but I could not verify any of the stories that were told to me. The marker on this single grave shows this grave to be that of: Mitchell, Infant of S. C. and S. R. Nov 2, 1878 Nov 26, 1878 **** There is another cemetery in the woods behind the Concord Cemetery. We were told that this was the black cemetery, which was used by the black citizens of this area at one time. However, we were not able to document this. This area is in the woods and is badly overgrown. We found three marked graves in this area. However, I would estimate that there are approximately twenty (20) unmarked graves in this section. ****** One hundred sixty-nine (169) unmarked graves in this cemetery Transcription was completed May 27, 1990 CONCORD PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY: An earlier survey shows the following graves as located in this cemetery.
