In the name of God, Amen. I, William Lee, of the County and State aforesaid, being of sound perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, do make and ordain this, my last Will & Testament in manner and form following: 1st - I direct that my land be sold and that my Executors appropriate the money to the purchase of in such a way as they may think proper to the best advantage to the welfare of my family. 2nd - I direct that my personal property be kept together during my wife, Nancy's lifetime and provided my wife, Nancy, marries, I give and bequeath unto her forever the following named Slaves (to-wit): Charles, a man slave and Mariel, a woman slave and child and their increase; 3rd - I desire that one thousand dollars be given out of the proceeds of my farm to my oldest child when she comes of age, marries and so on in succession for all my children becomes of age or marries and at that time an equal division to be made among all my children and my wife to be considered an equal heir in the division provided she continues a widow. 4th - I desire that my daughters be educated out of the proceeds of my farm. 5th - I desire that my son, John Henry Lee, be continued to school until he comes of age and all expenses accruing for his education to be paid out of my estate income and then he to receuve a portion of whatsoever nature or kind 6th - I desire that my Executors sell the crop made on my farm and buy such stock as is necessary to keep up said farm. 7th - I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife, Nancy Lee, and my friend William Marks, Nicholas Meriwether and Amos Jones Executors of this my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and office my seal this 2nd day of August in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and thirty six.
