McLemore, of the State of Alabama, Montgomery County, being diseased in body but sound of mind and disposing memory and being fully assured that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make this my last will and testament. 1. I will my body, soul, and spirit to Almighty God that gave it. 2. I will to my beloved mother, Elizabeth McLemore: Negroes Charles (aged 30), Jim (22),. Also feather bedstead and furniture. Also note I hold against her for about one hundred and seventy-nine dollars to dispose of as she thinks proper. 3. I will to my brother, Pleasant W. McLemore: land to dispose of as he thinks proper (South half of North West quarter and West half of South West quarter of Section Twenty, Township sixteen, range nineteen.) 4. I will that the money that may be left to pay debts and remainder to be equally divided between my mother and brother, Pleasant W. McLemore. My mother and brother, Pleasant W. McLemore, shall pay my brother James M. McLemore each fifty dollars annually for eight years (four hundred dollars). Executor: Moses McLemore. I will that he may be authorized to make titles against my estate to a Negro woman Sarah that I have conditionally sold and given my bond for to make title as the condition if the bond is fully complied with and do hereby sign ths my last will and testament. John was born the son of James McLemore and Mary Elizabeth Harper McLemore on November 30, 1818 and died on December 2, 1845. He is buried in the McLemore Burying Ground in Montgomery Co., AL.
