Hood, shot to death over a land dispute by J.W. Smith, Obituary Oct 9, 1921 Lee Co AL, DECEASED HAD A LARGE FAMILY: Besides his widow (Frances E. Hearn Hood), Mr. Hood is survived by eight children, five of whom were still with him. They are O.S. Hood of Phenix City, AL; D.L. Hood of Columbus; Mrs. J. Bringle of Port Royal, SC; Robert (H.) and Gurvis Hood of Phenix City; and four brothers, L.W. Hood of Speigner, AL; A.R. and P.W. Hood of Phenix City; and J.M. Hood of Smiths Station, AL. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from Philadelphia Church, seven miles west of Phenix City, conducted by Rev. P.M. Guthrie of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, following which interment will be in Philadelphia Cemetery (Lee Co AL). Pall bearers were four sons and two nephews of the deceased: O.S. Hood, D.L. Hood, R.H. Hood, G.L. Hood (sons) , B.M. Hood and B.O. Hood (nephews).
