Fred Blackmon Bennett, is my father and son of
Charles Edward "Ed" and Fannie Viola (Hamilton) Bennett.
Fred was born on 14 May 1904 in Ohatchee, Calhoun Co., AL.
On 24 Dec 1935 when Fred was 31, he married Lessie Mae Sirmon.

BENNETT, Mr. Fred B., 88, a resident
of the State V.A. Home in Alexander
City and formerly of Montgomery, AL,
died Friday, January 29, 1993, in Alex-
ander City, AL. Funeral services will
be held Sunday, January 31, 1993, at
3:30 p.m. from Leak-Memory Chapel
with Ministers Rex A. Turner and
Reginald Anthony officiating. Burial
will be in Greenwood Cemetery Survi-
vors include his wife of 57 years, Mrs.
Lessie Sirmon Bennett, Alexander
City, AL; two sons, Rufus E. Bennett,
Opelika, AL and Fred H. Bennett, Bir-
mingham, AL; two sisters; six grand-
children and one great-grandson. Mr.
Bennett was a Veteran of WWII and a
retired M/Sgt. From the U.S. Air Force
and had been a member of the Church
of Christ since 1947.
